The background
Pascal Pater is the co-founder of SurpriseMedia, a young dynamic online company that focuses on the promotion of recreational activities. SurpriseMedia has launched their first website, www.verrasuwpartner.nl, and has three more in the pipeline, each of which will serve their ads through OpenX.

Why OpenX?
About 12 months ago the company decided to try serving ads on their website and turned to OpenX. “I did some research into alternative ad serving solutions,” explains Pascal, “but none of them were the perfect blend: high quality, feature rich, easy to use, flexible and open source. All that for a bargain price - Gratis!”

Generating money
“We have been using OpenX for about a year now and hope to continue using this excellent piece of OSS for years to come,” enthuses Pascal. “We weren't handling any adverts before and we currently serve about 150,000 impressions per month with an average CPM of just over $1.”

SurpriseMedia is a niche player in a small territory but by the end of this year will have 4-5 websites running OpenX. “Having just one system handling all of our ads on multiple zones and websites will truly prove the power of OpenX.”

Using the technology
When asked which features of the software have proved most useful, Pascal replies, “personally I love the use of zones, banner delivery options, statistics and reporting options.”

“I love OpenX,” concludes Pascal. “It's easy, it's fast and it's open source. Running ads wouldn't be the same without it.”
